Large Tail Dragger Snow Skis

MMP Hand-crafted all Aluminum Snow Skis are the finest anywhere..

These skis are drilled to be installed on 5/32" axles on aircraft that weigh between 10 and 18 pounds.  As airplanes approach the heavier end of this weight range, we understand that you may desire to use larger axles. Therefore, these skis are designed so that they may be carefully reamed to accept up to 1/4 inch axles.

The finished dimensions are 16 inches long x 3.0 inches wide.

• New snow ski features include:

  1. All of the MMP snow skis now incorporate deeper threads and larger, stronger, 8/32 grade 8 set screws, to satisfy even the boldest desires for maximum torque, without stripping or breaking the fasteners! Holding power was great before, but now they have a much greater tolerance to heavy handed over torque situations!

  2. We are also featuring improved snow flotation on the large sized skis, by adding more curvature on the tips!

  3. We are adding longer torsion springs on the large sized skis. Due the the wide variation in sizes of airplanes utilizing this sized ski, we found that some planes simply sat in a very nose up stance on the ground, causing a lot of tilt angle in the lock block and torsion spring assembly. Adjusting the angle of the bend in the torsion spring ensures good contact between the skis and the springs. However, if this adjustment is not made, the front of the torsion springs can lift clear of the ski. So, we are adding additional length to the torsion springs on the large skis to help prevent this from ever becoming an issue. This allows a wider envelope of airframes, and assures that less adjustments are needed to the spring itself.

  4. Other tweaks to the design range from minor cosmetic changes, to alterations in manufacturing!
